High-rise apartments cannot install rooftop solar panels, and electricity prices continue to rise. The hope is to utilize small-scale solar panels on balconies for peak-valley energy saving and as backup power during short-term power outages.
This is a Berlin apartment resident facing the dual challenges of limited roof space and soaring EU electricity prices. We installed a compact balcony energy storage system, paired with balcony solar panels. Excess solar energy generated during the day is automatically stored and released during peak evening hours. The system provides seamless backup power for lighting, refrigerator, and Wi-Fi during short power outages. No complicated modifications are required; the wall-mounted design saves balcony space. Monthly electricity bills can be reduced by up to 38%.
